In the early 1940's, one of the Moscow watch making plants of the First Moscow Watch Factory was evacuated to Chistopol and this is how the Vostok Watch Makers, Inc. was born in 1942, based in Chistipol, Tatartan, Russia. The firm is a Russian watchmaker, they produce mainly rugged military and amfibia(*) mechanical watches. It also makes clocks and watch movement for other brands.

(*) Amfibia is a Soviet watch (Dive Watch), produced in large quantities for the Soviet and Russian military. The first Soviet Amphibia watch was created by The Vostok watch factory in 1967, followed for Raketa and then Poljot with their own version in 1972. These watches gained significant popularity worldwide.

During the war years, only defense equipment was produced and as soon as the war was over, the company started producing wristwatches. Also, it was until the 1960's when the brand began to use the name Vostok, after the Vostok space programme.

By 1965, Vostok was appointed an official supplier of watches for the Ministry of Defense of the Soviet Union. Also, the creation of the well-known Komandirskie watch. All of that produced, the introduction of the army watch, the Amphibia, a stainless steel diving watch (20 ATM).

Produced in the Soviet Union in 1991 by a small batch, timed to coincide with the meeting of the leaders of the two powers. This is a Vostok Commemorative Watch honoring the Helsinki Summit with Bush and Gorbachev -the Helsinki Summit was a private, bilateral meeting between American President George H. W. Bush and Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev that took place in Helsinki, Finland on September 9th, 1990-.

A real USSR watch and dated from 1991, this is a very unique timepiece, a vintage Vostok (Boctok) wristwatch. It It is a manual wind watch with a Wostok movement, caliber 2409A, 17 jewels, sweep second.

It is a 37mm round case with coin edge design bezel. It has a blue color dial with silver applied Arabic Numerals (12, 3, 6 and 9) and matching hands. The dial has the American and Soviet flags and their presidents respectively. Also, the dial is signed with the Boctok name.

This watch is coming with a vintage red bund strap one-pieces leather strap.

This watch keeps good time and runs very well.

Vintage watches are traditionally smaller than today's watches. Men's watches typically measure between 29-36mm (some larger, some smaller) wide excluding the crown. In the listing details we typically try to do our best to list all pertinent dimensions of a watch. If you don't see it, or we failed to do so, please reach out to us. Women's watches from the 1900s-1970s were also somewhat smaller than today’s offerings in many cases. Please also feel free to ask any questions you have pertaining to size.

We prefer to shoot photographs outside when weather is permitting. However, when we shoot indoors, please be aware that we shoot our photographs inside of lightboxes that are lit with 360 LED bulbs. This indeed magnifies any flaws. Usually, they are much less obvious to the naked eye. Having said that, we never photoshop any of our photography, remove blemishes, etc. We adjust light, when necessary, but what you see is what you are getting, and we take pride in that.
