DATE: Victorian, c.1870

A cool antique Rosary ring dating from the latter half of the 19th Century, circa 1880. It features a cross, along with ten studs - representing the one decade of a rosary - and likely belonged to a priest or a nun. As with rosary beads, the studs will have been used as a physical method of keeping count of the number of Hail Marys said as the mysteries are contemplated, with the cross denoting the start/end of the repetition. Unusual to find one like this in 18 karat gold.
